Professional Development Opportunities

 We have several exciting professional development opportunities and social events planned for young investigators (YIs) during the 2018 ISER meeting in Belfast. All YIs are strongly encouraged to apply for a travel award scholarship. This prestigious award helps cover the financial costs of traveling to Belfast and is also a great networking opportunity. The deadline for the YI travel fellowship application deadline in June 10th, 2018. Follow this link for more information on the travel award application process.

Additionally, all YIs are eligible to compete in the 2018 best poster competition. The 1st place winner will not only win cash prizes but will have the opportunity to give a brief 3-minute, 1 slide talk on their work before one of the Prize Ceremony and Lecture. Lastly, there is a brand-new activity tailored just for ISER’s YIs. This event, “Meet the Experts”, will allow interested YIs to discuss a wide range of topics with ISER’s elite scientists during the afternoon coffee breaks on Wednesday, September 12th and Thursday September 13th. Social Events

One of the best parts of attending ISER meetings is getting to travel to unique and beautiful parts of the world. The 2018 meeting will be located in stunning Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. All YI interested in meeting up for drinks at a local pub can meet at the Black Box pub in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter on  September 12, 2018 at 18:30 for happy hour. This event will not be officially sponsored by ISER but will be a great opportunity to meet and connect with fellow ISER YIs as well as explore Belfast.

Remember to use #ISER2018 in all of your social media outlets when documenting your time in Belfast.

As always, all YIs will have an opportunity to meet each other at the start of the meeting during the welcome reception. Keep an ear out for an announcement regarding the meet and greet at the welcome reception!
